Saddler

Riley & Olivia

A Saddler's clients were usually rich and always wanted the best. Owners kept horses for various reasons like riding, racing, and breeding. Among the skills the apprentice had to master were the use of the special knives saddle makers cut leather with. Apprentices began their training in stitching by producing the thread that a shop would use. A typical saddle shop's items would include a finished spyglass case, a felt core, and plenty of awls.

Saddler's and Shoemaker's often help each other since they both use leather for making their items.

Alexander Craig was a saddler known for repairing horse accesories, saddles, bridles, and harnesses.

Saddler's only used leather to make saddles. This is a picture of an English saddle. Unless you had a good amount of money your saddle would not be very decorated.

If the saddle was too small it would not fit on the horse.

Saddler's also made bridle's. Bridle's are the mouthpiece of the harness.Harnesses are like reins on a wagon.

Were you sit in the saddle, is an inclined plane becase the saddle slope's down just a tad so you can still have room for another person.
